Dr. Richard Silvera
Dr. Silvera is a first year fellow in Infectious Disease at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has a vast amount of professional experience concentrated in HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ health. He is a volunteer physician for the Human Rights Clinic, Health-Right International. He has served as a research coordinator and data associate for the Men’s Sexual Health Project at the NYU School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital Center Virology Service. He was responsible for data management and data analysis of a clinical service/research program providing HIV and STI testing at commercial sex venues in NYC for MSM. With the Department of Environmental Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine he served as the Research Data Associate responsible for recruitment, retention, and data management of several HIV related research protocols and participated in large, multi-site Phase I and II HIV vaccine clinical trials, behavioral studies, HIV prevention studies, and a HIV primary infection program project. Dr. Silvera’s numerous publications and presentation offer insight to a diverse range of issues in healthcare. He has led presentations on the distribution/prescription of Naloxone within the healthcare system.

Dr. Silvera has also delivered presentations and publications regarding the health of men who have sex with men, including but not limited to anal dysplasia, anal condyloma, and the diagnosis of anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. He holds numerous honors and awards including being part of the team that received the 2017 New York Society of Addiction Medicine Resident Competition Award. Dr. Silvera completed a Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in June 2018. He received his Medical Degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Masters in Public Health from New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
